Update Uno

OK, I can't believe I haven't had an updated post since February 15th at the quarterly lunch meeting! Let's see if I can bring everyone at least a bit up to speed on a few of the subjects. There isn't a way for me to get it all done - but a start is a start, right?

OK, first my eyes. The new lenses (Acuvue Advanced w/ Hydraclear for Astigmatism - click here) have been working out much better. They pulled me out of contacts for another week after my last post because they said my eyes had stopped healing when I started wearing lenses again. So, even though these new ones weren't causing any further damage, they weren't allowing them to heal completely either. So I was back on TobraDex for another week, but after that everything was fine. I shelled out another loverly $500 for contacts and will continue ever onward.

OK, now for some new stuff with the car... I now have about 4400 miles on it. Of course by the time I'm done with the post I'll probably have cleared 5000, right? So, not bad for a week or two past two months. After all, I wouldn't want to have it under warranty for any significant amount of time. Found out that you shouldn't let people with dirty hands ride in the car... I've got fingerprints all over the white sections of the leather... :-( I think I'm just going to need to impose a cover charge to get into my car...

Anyways, I've had some slight problems recently. There is some mystery vibration that kicks in during medium acceleration, but very sporadically. This makes it very difficult to duplicate. It did it a lot for one week (started out of the blue) then it quit and in the past week and a half I've only been able to duplicate it twice. However, I'm doing like they said and recording the time, ambient temperature, gear, and RPMs. So we'll see what they have to say this next time...

It will tentatively go in tomorrow to get its other problem fixed. The steering wheel has always been a few degrees off when traveling straight. When the first dealer (here) tried to fix it (which they didn't) they managed to screw up the alignment so that the front tires started wearing unevenly. So, this new dealership (here) looked at it and said that the upper control arms needed to be replaced with an updated model to fix the pull to the right and then the maladjusted steering wheel and alignment could be fixed permanently. It better be. Anyways, those are supposed to arrive today, so it may go in tomorrow.

That should work out well, because I'm supposed to be downtown all day at the regional Microsoft offices for training on MOSS 07 (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server - click here; sat image of office - tall buildings on right here; event here). I'm hoping it will not be too much into the code side (because I'm no C# expert) and will be more into customization through the user interface - that I can do.

Anyways, eyes and car - that will be the summation of this post. I'll update on school, work, side work, and the places/foods I've been hitting up in the next one.

Ciao ~
